But Joy and Jaycob toughed it out and allowed us to capture some memorable images of them. It gets pretty chilly at the beach in San Diego during the winter. I love shooting at this location. IB is a funky neighborhood, and the pillars under the pier manage to look like some weird, surreal forest in the sand. And you meet the trippiest people there, too, like Random Barnacle Guy who wanted to show off his latest finding to us. Thanks, dude!

Joy and her son are old friends of ours, and we have a soft spot in our little camera hearts for them. We’ve shot their family photos every year now since Jaycob was born. I love it! I love this photography thing!
