I always think it’s because, for whatever reason, they are denying their inner-male-model.

Pedro is exactly like that. Despite his protests otherwise, I swear I could sense that he dug being in front of the camera. Vicky, on the other hand, was just like her good friend–and our former client–Jackie: relaxed, confident, and funny. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with these two. Here’s to you, Vicky and Pedro!

Stoic. Intense–all an act. He’s a big softie and a pretty friendly dude.

Mary Anne: Warm. Earthy. Great, infectious laugh. And apparently she’s too sexy. When I used a photo of her as stock for a design project, it was rejected for being “too provocative.”

You may remember them both from photo-shoots such as, “Mary Anne and John in the Boneyard.”

John + Mary Anne + bridal party + family = one of the best parties we’ve witnessed! We seriously wanted to put our cameras down and jump on the dance floor with everyone. Guests didn’t leave until after last call–and this was on a Sunday night! Afterwards they all took the party to a local bar. Man, where do these people get the energy?

Grace is a sweetheart, and completely adorable. Eric is a stand-up guy, but he seems shy on first impression. Man, that’s not true when you get him together with his friends. Let’s just say that their wedding was a study in controlled chaos: just when you think everything is about to go crazy, it all pulls together and works beautifully!

Kudos to coordinator extraordinaire Melissa Barrad for doing her thing! Ram Nogra Productions did wonderful video work, and Injoy Entertainment kept the crowd happy. Tessilk Flowers provided the lovely flowers, and the mouth-watering cake was provided by Sweet Cheeks Baking. Grace and her ladies were prettied up by La Belle Makeup Artistry, and the cards and invites were designed by the talented folks at First Sight Creative. All these vendors worked together to create a wonderful event at the Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley.

Where she may be fiery, he’s calm. Where she may be impatient, he’s steady and receptive. Where he may be impassive, she’s animated. The way they complemented each other was so apparent to us when we shot their engagement photos so many months ago.

Their wedding had a classically beautiful feel to it, from the ceremony at the Immaculata at USD to the reception at The Prado at Balboa Park, so that influenced the approach Kirin and I took when we photographed them. Take a look for yourself…

They are  both active in the PASACAT, an organization dedicated to Filipino folk dances and music. What we didn’t realize was the extent of their talent. Laurence is an accomplished singer, and Cherryl comes from a family of performing artisits: her siblings, father and uncle are all dancers, singers and musicians. And they all showed off their talents at the reception!

The ceremony was held at the Immaculata at USD, and the reception was held at the Courtyard Marriott in Liberty Station. We love shooting at the Immaculata and at the Founder’s Chapel on that campus. That was the first time we’ve shot at Liberty Station, and we learned that that location had some good spots to shoot, also.

The whole day was just a feast for the eyes for Kirin and I. It was icing on the cake that Cherryl and Laurence are such cool people, too. Here’s to you, guys!
