Indra and Jenae are typical BKM clients: young-ish, sweet, good-natured, easy-going. “Pose us however you want us,” they told us. They weren’t very experienced being in front of the camera. Again, that’s typical. I think most people you run into are not used to having a camera in their face for extended periods of time.



However, when Kirin and I started shooting pictures of these two, we were surprised at how well they did in front of our cameras. I think the sound of our shutters going off must have released their inner-Zoolanders, ’cause they sure seemed like they knew what they were doing. They were relaxed, candid, natural, and that usually results in some great photos. See for yourself…



Florence and Jun love Hawaii, and many of their most important memories were shared by the beach. Like so many photo shoots, in can be a bit awkward for a couple who isn’t used to having two photographers following them around, sticking lenses in their faces. Still, they did wonderfully, and after a few minutes of cracking jokes and reminding them to focus on each other and just have fun, we got great images to showcase the loving twosome they are.

We must be cashing in on our good karma points, cause we always seem to get the really cool clients. Shea and Marvin are wonderful people. Shea has this energy about her that just makes you enjoy her presence. It’s really cute the way she and Marvin bring out the smiles in each other.

Their wedding will be held along Mission Bay, though they wanted photos with an urban setting. Luckily, urban shots have become a forte of ours, and we found a location around the Columbia district of downtown San Diego. Many of our clients request shoots around downtown, and we like to make sure that even if the location is similar, one couples’ photos should not look just like another couple’s.
